can someone please check my task 1 and rate it.

The two maps show the same island. The first one is before and the second one is after the construction for tourism.

First looking at the before construction one, we can see a huge bare island with some sporadic plantation on the east side and few plantation on the west side. Also, the beach is on the west side of the island. The total length of the island is approx. 250 meters.

Now looking at the second map. We can see remarkably significant changes all around the island. A lot of accommodation units are built on the island, few on the western side near the beach and few in the center of the island. All the units on either area are conjoined together by a footpath.one footpath connecting the western accommodation area leads to the beach; tourist can swim near the beach. Furthermore, between the two accommodation areas, there is a restaurant in the south and a reception block in the center surrounded by a vehicle track conjoining the restaurant with it. This track also leads down to the pier where tourist can go sailing in the south sea.

Overall, comparing the two maps, a significant change can be seen after this development. Not only a lot of facilities are built for the tourist but also the sea is used for activities that may attract a lot of tourist from all around the world.

Lacks proper punctuation
by: Ehsan

The matter was very well phrased and rendered an extremely vivid picture of the islands. However, found that there was a lack of proper punctuation as where required.

Additionally, the writer could have used shorter sentences. This makes reading easier and is also less prone to grammatical mistakes.

An Island before and after construction
by: Anonymous

The illustrations reveal an island before and after building a lot of tourist facilities. Overall, the island has been transformed into a tourist attraction with many facilities to entertain visitors.

Looking at the area before the construction, it is noticeable that the island is about 200 meters long and 50 meters wide. On the left side of the map there was an inhabited beach. Next to it was a small group of palm trees. Also, on the right side of the area there was a larger number of palm trees.

Turning to the post-construction map, it can be observed that huts were built around the small number of palm trees to accommodate beach goers who go swimming. These huts are connected between each other and with the beach via a footpath. Next to them a reception building has been constructed, which is surrounded by a car way. In the back of this reception a restaurant was erected, whereas a marina where boats can dock was constructed in front of the reception building. In the middle there is another group of huts also connected with a walk path. In addition, on the right side the palm trees remained unchanged.

IELTS Map - Town and Village Development

by Shiny Star

The map shows the development of Meadowside village and Fonton town from 1962 to the present day.

The map shows the development of Meadowside village and Fonton town from 1962 to the present day.

The three maps given, compare the development of Meadowside village and its neighboring town Fonton, over the time period of three different years (1962, 1985 and the present).

Overall, the meadowside village has been developed much till present and is expanded to merge with Fonton town, which was far apart from meadowside village earlier. Many new buildings and roads have been constructed in the meadowside village in the course time.

In the 1962, Meadowside village and Fonton were separated with no means of linking roads or railway tracks between them. A small road passed through the village from west to north and a single railway track ran through Fonton from east to north.

By 1985, both the meadow village and Fonton town were expanded. In meadowside village, super store was constructed in the south while housing estate was built alongside main road, in the west of leisure complex. The former small road was turned in to main road and was extended up to the Fonton town.

Currently, both the Fonton town and meadowside village has been expanded so much that they are completely merged together now. A new railway line has been laid from Fonton town and a railway station too is built between the meadowside and fonton. With the station, a hotel is constructed. While a business park has also been built just opposite to the station.

IELTS Map - Construction of Tourist Facilities

The two maps show an island, before and after the construction of some tourist facilities.

These maps show how an island has been changed after many facilities are built. Overall, it can be seen that there major changes mainly involving construction of accomodations and other services.

To begin, in the west of the island accommodations are built around some palm trees with foot paths connecting it with each others and another foot path to the beach in the far west where people can enjoy swimming. Another set of accommodation units are also built just to the east with their footpaths.

In the centre of the island which was a plain area, a reception block is constructed surrounded by a vehicle track , with a restaurant at the far north. At the coast which is at the south of island , a pier is built where boats sail and from which the vehicle track connected to the reception

The two maps compare the situations at an island pre and post the construction of some facilities which can be used for tourist purpose.

Overall, it can be seen that the island underwent a tremendous amount of transformation in order to be recognized as a tourist spot. Connectivity with and within the island was greatly improved while keeping the plantation intact.

Earlier, the island had no shelter or any type of options for an overnight stay. The island had some Banyan trees distributed across the spread. The beach was located on the west side of the island. Any kind of modes of transport was missing on the island.

After it has been decided to develop the island as an attraction, a pier was built in order to anchor the ships and boats which help people to commute from the mainland. The pier was connected with vehicle tracks to travel towards the reception building in the center of the island and the restaurant which was built in the north. The reception area was linked with footpaths on the east as well as the west side where houses were grouped in a circular pattern. In total, 15 houses were erected to accommodate the visitors. The western side of the colony now has an extended footpath which leads straight to the beach. The Banyan trees that were present before the construction of these facilities were left untouched.

Stuff not on the map
by: Joko

In response to the essay from Sept 25 2017:

First of all, your essay was 257 words long. This won't leave time for task 2.

A common mistake is to report details that are not on the map. Task 1 is about being able to convey information in English concisely and objectively, without your own interpretation, however obvious it may seem.

These mistakes come in 3 types.
*details not on the map
*interpretations of purpose or outcome
* subjective opinions.

Keeping the plantation intact (What plantation?)

Banyan trees (where does the map call them Banyan?)

a pier was built in order to anchor the ships (well, I suppose that's what piers are for, but there's no need to speculate about purpose)

from the mainland (I don't see a mainland)

Map_tourist fascilities task 1
by: Anonymous

The map provides the difference between the two islands the acient and the present one...

To begin from the first one ,the whole era is unclativated instead of having some dates trees.Which obviously not fasciliated opportunities for tourists.

The second one after development having a numbers of small camps along with a standard footpaths for each which lead towards the beach for enjoying swimming .Accommodation is provided and a dramatic restaurant is constructed below which reception is available jointed by roads moving to the pier where two boats ar sailed.yet the present island having specific facilities for visitors as lack in the past one.

Overall the acient one`s to compare with the new decorated island there are a phlethora of opportunities for tourists to visit this ultra_catchy place and have entertainment....
